From August 22nd to 23rd, the dance drama "The Past of Shawan" returned to its premiere venue, Guangzhou, and held a commemorative performance for its tenth anniversary at the Guangzhou Opera House.
The original cast of the show, including Li Xing and Li Yanchao, all returned to bring back memories from ten years ago for the audience. Now, the "Shawan" is still popular among the audience. At the commemorative performance on the evening of August 23rd, although the actors made seven curtain calls, the audience still didn"t want to leave the theatre.

In June 2013, the Guangdong Song & Dance Ensemble began preparations for this dance drama. After a year and a half of rehearsals, on October 8th, 2014, "The Past of Shawan" officially debuted at the Guangzhou Opera House.
Set in the ancient town of Shawan in the 1930s, the play takes many Cantonese musicians such as He Liutang, He Yunian and He Shaoxia as prototypes, and takes the creation of the famous song "Dragon Boat Racing" as the main storyline with contemporary dance, showing the unremitting efforts and pursuit of Cantonese musicians to inherit and develop national music.
Over the past decade, the dance drama has conducted multiple tours, covering over 60 cities worldwide, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Macau, Washington, New York, etc. It has performed nearly 300 shows, with an average attendance rate of over 90%. It has achieved both critical acclaim and box office success and has won numerous national-level awards. It has also received funding support from the China National Arts Fund for four times.
The ten years of "The Past of Shawan" is also a microcosm of the development of Chinese dance drama in the past decade.
"Over the past decade, the strict requirements of improving the work and the efforts paid by all the cast and crew have contributed to the consistent performance quality of "The Past of Shawan"", said Xiong Jianxin, the director of the Guangdong Song & Dance Ensemble, hoping that this drama will continue to be performed by generations at the ensemble as a signature showcasing Lingnan culture, keeping the classic dance drama dynamic.
The tenth-anniversary performance on the evening of August 23rd attracted many fans to come. Ms. Zhang, an audience, told reporters that the first time that she watched "The Past of Shawan" was in 2017. "Tonight marks my fifth time watching "The Past of Shawan", and I am still overwhelmed by the excellent performance!"
舞剧《沙湾往事》创排十年，巡演近300场依然很“燃”
8月22日-23日，舞剧《沙湾往事》重回首演之地，在广州大剧院举行创排十周年纪念演出。
黎星、李艳超原班卡司悉数回归，为观众带回10年前的记忆。经过十年洗礼，“沙湾”热潮依然很“燃”。8月23日晚的纪念演出现场，演员们谢幕七次，观众仍久久不散。
2013年6月，广东歌舞剧院开始筹备舞剧，2014年10月8日，历时一年半创排，舞剧《沙湾往事》在广州大剧院正式与观众见面。
该剧以20世纪30年代沙湾古镇为背景，以“何氏三杰”等众多广东音乐人为创作原型，以广东音乐人创作的传世名曲《赛龙夺锦》的故事为主线，用当代舞蹈艺术元素演绎传奇故事的发展，展示了广东音乐人传承发展民族音乐的不懈努力和执着追求。
十年间，舞剧《沙湾往事》开展了多轮巡演，足迹遍布北京、上海、广州、深圳、香港、澳门、华盛顿、纽约等60多个城市，巡演近300场，平均上座率超90%，实现了口碑、票房双丰收，并多次荣获国家级大奖，先后4次获得国家艺术基金立项支持。
《沙湾往事》的十年，也是中国舞剧十年发展的缩影。
“十年来，对作品打磨的严苛要求、台前幕后所有演职人员的辛苦付出，让舞剧《沙湾往事》演出品质达到了‘十年如一’的效果。”广东歌舞剧院院长熊健心怀期许，舞剧《沙湾往事》作为彰显岭南文化的舞蹈名片，希望在广东歌舞剧院代代传跳下去，让经典舞剧继续焕发活力。
8月23日晚的十周年纪念演出，吸引了众多粉丝前来。观众詹女士告诉记者，她第一次观看舞剧《沙湾往事》是在2017年，至今已“五刷”这部舞剧，“今晚第五次看《沙湾往事》，我依然心潮澎湃，目不暇接！”
